We\u2019ve seen the damage from an inadequate preparation for risk. It\u2019s not pretty. But we\u2019re learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Know the landscape<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The big lesson of cyber security is simple. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cNo matter how you set up your network, people will attack you. There will always be vulnerabilities \u2013 because the systems are designed by people and people are fallible.\u201d<\/p><cite>&#8211; Tim de Sousa, Senior Director &#8211; Technology at FTI Consulting<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>So, we have to get comfortable with the concept that data breaches are a reality of modern business. And as our work environment has changed, so has our risk environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How do we prepare?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The best way to combat that is prevention, to proactively invest in securing your data and your business. It also means being prepared to react appropriately and quickly for when the worst happens.
