Seven upcoming academic research scholars presented seminars at the annual New and Emerging Scholars Symposium  held on 1 November at the Moot Court, University of Waikato School of Law<\/a>. This is the fourth gathering of new and emerging academics drawn from New Zealand’s law schools.  Participants this year came from the University of Waikato, the University of Auckland, Victoria University of Wellington,  the University of  Canterbury, and the University of Otago.<\/p>\n

Developing connections<\/h2>\n

\"IanThe event, initiated by Ian McIntosh, Commercial Manager \u2013 Product Development for Thomson Reuters, is, he says, now a fully established fixture on the academic calendar. The principal idea behind its development, to provide a mutually supportive forum for junior academics, has been well and truly proven as a welcome opportunity to share research interests, and to meet colleagues.  Ian says introducing young academics and their research to each other opens the possibility for potential collaborative work. These people, he says, are our future legal leaders and supporting their development benefits everybody. This year, for the first time, two of the presenters shared material from work towards their doctorates.<\/p>\n
